The Sea Company was founded in 1980 by Bahamian designer, Eunice Sands, under the name The Best of The Bahamas. Many of the shells in the current collection are her original designs. The business thrived for nearly four decades, selling across the Bahamas and in Jamaica, Turks & Caicos, St. Lucia and in Eunice's own boutique on West Bay Street, until two years ago when she made the decision to retire. Having admired her work for years, I recently acquired the business and have relaunched it under a new name, The Sea Company. We have large shoes to fill, but are enjoying infusing the same level of passion and skill into our work as we develop and expand the collection.
Born and raised in the Bahamas, my background is in design. I am a GIA trained gemologist and jewellery designer and also the designer/inventor of a small line of patented reading accessories. I managed every aspect of the latter business including selling the products to vendors around the globe from small boutiques to Walmart and QVC.
Seeking to combine my creative background with an intrinsic love and appreciation for Mother Nature, designing and hand making high quality, seaside inspired products is an enriching new adventure! We are planning on expanding the business in a few exciting directions, whilst maintaining the high standards for quality and design, that have been the cornerstone of this business for the last 37 years.
